If you didn´t know it by now, then i´m going to give you a news flash here and now. The Swedish game studio Arrowhead Game Studios (“Magicka”, “The Showdown Effect”, “Gauntlet” and Helldivers) is no longer a part of the Paradox Interactive collective.
So Arrowhead is not in charge of the development for “Magicka 2” (which was unveiled at E3 last year). Nope, instead it´s a studio called Pieces Interactive (another Swedish studio).
And at this time, it´s hard to say if it´s for good or bad. However, Pieces Interactive has developed some Magicka titles in the past. Such as “Magicka: Dungeons and Daemons” and “Magicka: Dungeons and Gargoyles” for example.
And the new “Magicka 2” trailer was really funny and entertaining. So i´m more positive than negative about “Magicka 2” at this moment. And good thing that, as the game is set for a release on the 26th of May! (for Windows and PS4).
Linux users will have to wait until Q3/Q4 sometime this year though. But hopefully enough, “Magicka 2” will be worth waiting for!
About Magicka 2:
The world’s most irreverent co-op action adventure returns! In the next chapter of Magicka, players ascend from the ruins of Aldrheim to experience a Midgård almost wiped free of Wizards after the Wizard Wars, with the few that do remain having either gone mad or extremely hostile toward all others.
To rid the world of evil, again, up to four Wizards, and their guide Vlad, will traverse Midgård armed with the next iteration of the famous Magicka dynamic spellcasting system, as players reprise their roles as the most overpowered, unpredictably funny Wizards ever known to fantasy!
