Not so long ago i wrote an article called “The corrupt gamejournos list – Let’s clean up the industry together!“. Which is an article about the corrupt gamejournos list (DeepFreeze). That´s old news by now. But the part about the former Games reviewer Darren Porter just got relevent again thanks to Randi Harper (aka “freebsdgirl, the maker of ggautoblocker and founder of the Online Abuse Prevention Initiative).
And why is that? Because it seems like Randi Harper has blocked both Darren Porter and us on Twitter (i don´t know if Harper blocked Porter first, or if it was the other way around). And why is that? Because Porter mentioned my (our) article about Randi Harper. In fact, this is Porter´s actual tweet about Randi Harper:
“Everything you need to know about @freebsdgirl and her totalitarian attempts at free speech control http://thegg.net/general-news/the-gamergate-industry-blacklists-are-you-blocked/ … #hypocrite”
And if you know anything at all about Randi Harper. Then you know that Darren Porter is more than right about the part where he stated that she´s an hypocrite. As she both bully, harass and dox people. And at the same time, she´s a self acclaimed social justice super hero. So it´s rather ironic and laughable that Harper is the founder of the Online Abuse Prevention Initiative (OAPI for short).
But you don´t even have to take my word on this. As there´s plenty of articles and archived pictures of Randi Harpers outbursts and scandals throughout the years. As for Darren Porter. As he chose to speak up about the corruption in the video game industry (he also admited that #GamerGate has been right since day 1), Porter has become something of a walking target on Twitter.
But even so, i hope that more people will dare to speak up about the games industry just like Porter did.
