I just now realized that it´s been 24 years since SEGA released the very first Sonic the Hedgehog (on the 23rd of June) for SEGA Mega Drive (Genesis), but It´s true. As it really is Sonic´s 24th birthday today. Time sure flies you by when you’re having fun, just ask Sonic about that. Since there´s 36 Sonic games to his name (1991 – 2015). At the same time, I still like the old-school Sonic Games the most (Sonic 1 – 3). As I (and many other Sonic fans) consider the 90s to have been the golden era of the Sonic series. Here´s a fun fact though, even though I’ve been a fan of Sonic since 1991. I had no idea that Sonic actually made his first appearance in an Arcade game called “Rad Mobile” from 1991.
Still, there have been quite a few good Sonic games after the 90s as well, games such as Sonic Advance 1 – 3, Sonic Rush, Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and Sonic Generations. Sure, Sonic 4 was (and is) pretty decent, but in my opinion. Nothing beats the good Ol´ Sonic 1, 2 and 3. Anyhow, I want to send my/our congratulations to Sonic on his 24th birthday!

So thank you very much for all the awesome game memories SEGA, Naoto Ohshima (designer of Sonic, 1991-1997) Yuji Uekawa (designer of Sonic, 1998-present), Yuji Naka (the father of Sonic), Naoto Ohshima (the second father of Sonic). And before I wrap this post up, I just wanted to recommend you guys (and girls) to check out a really good Sonic documentary called “The History Of Sonic: Birth Of An Icon“.
