It seems like Microsoft is really hungry to get more exclusive titles for Xbox One. First it was Tomb Raider, now it´s Frontier Developments space combat/adventure simulator “Elite: Dangerous“.
Sure, the game got released to PC and MAC in December last year (you can buy the game for £39,99 via the Elite: Dangerous homepage). But when it comes to console Gaming, MS just turned “Elite: Dangerous” into a Xbox One exclusive title (+20 million sold consoles makes that a really good deal indeed).
Not for all time though, but for many months to come. And David Braben made that very clear on Twitter just recently, on the question about Elite: Dangerous is coming exclusively to Xbox One.
However, there´s no information on WHEN Elite: Dangerous will be released to other formats (PS4 for example). Anyhow, this is what David Braben (CEO of Frontier Developments) said on the subject to Gamespot:
“We’ve had a long relationship with Microsoft,” he told GameSpot. He continued:
“The Xbox audience has been very good to us. We’ve sold quite a few Xbox games with Microsoft. We also had a launch title for Xbox One, so our tools and technology has been battle-hardened on Xbox One already.
“We have a lot of experienced people at the studio who know Xbox One intimately, so it actually is a very logical choice for us. Also, Xbox One sales have been doing very well since the price went down, so it’s an exciting time. But it was a difficult decision.” – David Braben, Frontier Developments, via Gamespot
