Most of you are probably too young to remember Konami´s crazy SNES shoot-em-up game “Parodius! From Myth to Laughter” (aka “Parodius: Non-Sense Fantasy” in EU). Well, for those who do remember the game. I´ll have you know that even though “Parodius!” was released way back in 1990 (which would be over 25 years ago), I still haven´t played a shmup game that has lived up to the craziness of “Parodius!”. Well, all of that changed earlier today when I heard about RMAL´s shmup game “A grande bagunça espacial: The big space mess” (you can buy the game via Steam for 0,99 Euro).
And I’m not exaggerating either, because “A grande bagunça espacial” is like a mix of “Parodius!” (the shmup part), “Parappa the rapper” (the crazy characters) and “South Park” (the humor). Nice indeed, but is the game any good then? Very much so (check out the user reviews on Steam, most of them are of very positive nature), especially since “A grande bagunça espacial” cost less than one Euro. As you get a lot of value for your money. And I also have to say that the game is rather addicting as well, and I´m talking about “U.N Squadron” addicting. However, I have just played “A grande bagunça espacial” for one day. So I have to play it some more before I´m able to do a full review of the game.
Never the less, I hardly doubt that fans of shoot-em-up games will be disappointed in “A grande bagunça espacial”. As the game blew me away, and I´ve played shmup games since the late 80s. And in my opinion, just the crazy characters and story alone are easily worth that one Euro (watch the trailer further down the page, and you will understand what I mean). In the matter of fact, I haven´t played a game with such an insane storyline in many, many years.
So, yeah. I had quite a few laughs while playing through the game this early morning (my weekend has been saved!). Then again, I´m quite aware that “A grande bagunça espacial” might not be everyone´s cup of tea. Simply put, you will either hate or love the game to bits. With that said though, I sure don´t regret that spent 0,99 Euro on “A grande bagunça espacial”. However, I should point out that the game suffers from quite a few bugs. So you might want to wait until the next big update arrives (the last one dropped on the 22nd of April). And if you´re still not 100% sure if “A grande bagunça espacial” is worthy of your time and money, then you could always check out some gameplay videos on Youtube.
