I think that not even Obsidian Entertainment themselves could have foreseen what a great success story “Pillars of Eternity” would become on Kickstarter back in 2012.
As the game collected over 4.1 million dollars in total (including PayPal donations). I mean, “Pillars of Eternity” reached it´s Kickstarter goal within 24 hours!
How crazy ain´t that on a scale 1 to 10? Then again, over 73,000 people backed “Pillars of Eternity” on Kickstarter.
Impressive for sure. But does “Pillars of Eternity” live up to all the hype?
As a hardcore “Baldurs Gate” and “Planescape Tourment” player, i would say yes and more yes. In fact, “Pillars of Eternity” blows every other isometric RPG game out of the water right now.
And just look at some of the reviews of “Pillars of Eternity”!

“Obsidian (and its Kickstarter backers) have done it: Pillars of Eternity is one of the best RPGs since Baldur’s Gate.” 9/10 – IGN
“It’s the best new, isometric RPG to come out in years” 5/5 – The Escapist
“This is a big, fat, deep adventure that lets you carve your own unique path through a fantasy world that’s been brilliantly brought to life with rich, evocative writing. It’s a game steeped in a bygone era of computer RPG design, but somehow it doesn’t feel archaic. Obsidian have always been bound to other peoples’ worlds—Fallout, Dungeons & Dragons, Star Wars, South Park—but in creating their own from scratch, they’ve made not only their best game to date, but one of the best RPGs on PC.” 92/100 – PC Gamer
So is “Pillars of Eternity” worth those 41,99 Euro on Steam. Imo, it´s worth every single cent!
