There are many different types of fear and horrors that make us shiver, sweat and cry inside out of pure horror. However, the most common fear has always been the fear of the unknown (it´s been a part of the human nature since the dawn of time). And some really good examples of that would be “darkness” (no light source whatsoever), “strange noises” or the deep-sea. And all of these fear and horror elements are a huge part of the gameplay experience in Lazy Monday Games Deep-sea indie game “Reveal The Deep” (for Windows, MAC and Linux). And “Reveal The Deep” has a lot to offer besides just “fear”, and I´m talking about everything from adventure, exploration, puzzle and platforming. So even though the game has a rather simple look (retro) and feel to it, “Reveal The Deep” seems to be much deeper than you might think (the game takes place in the deep-sea after all).
Personally, I came to think of a really old sci-fi/thriller movie called “Sphere” (Dustin Hoffman, Sharon Stone, Samuel L. Jackson) when I saw some gameplay footage of “Reveal The Deep.” However, there seems to be no sci-fi theme to the game at all. So I guess that I just recognized that creepy feeling of being alone in the dark in the deep and scary sea. Anyhow, if this sounds like your cup of tea, then keep an eye open for “Reveal The Deep” on Steam! (the game got Greenlit not so long ago).
