I have to admit that it’s been quite a while since I spotted a roguelike game that caught my attention. Well, that just happens to be the case with Agent Mega’s upcoming 16-bit turn-based roguelike game “Paper Dungeons Crawler” (the game is said to launch via Steam on the 18th of May). You see, Stephane Valverde (game designer for Agent Mega) just informed us that “Paper Dungeons Crawler” has landed on Kickstarter:
“Paper Dungeons Crawler is the new true classic 16 bits Roguelike that you were waiting for! PDC offer a real challenge, deep gameplay, unique specialization system and draw to cast spells. The game is now live on Kickstarter, so come and check it out 🙂 The Official Paper Dungeons Crawler Release date on Steam is also fixed on the 18 May 2018” – Stephane Valverde alias Paifu
So, what is “Paper Dungeons Crawler” all about then? Well, here’s the actual game description by Agent Mega:
“Paper Dungeons Crawler is a true turn by turn classic 16 bits Roguelike with a unique specialization system. This is a sequel of our first game Paper Dungeons, a few years later in the same realm.Explore the mysterious Dungeons of Cyndaria and an extensive lore to unearth.
A plethora of creatures and magical items are waiting for you to step into ever-changing dungeons, with diverse biomes and challenges.Defeat Dragon bosses to unleash hidden runes and recover the sacred Seeds of Cyndaria to restore the divine trees.Dungeons can be unforgiving: be sure to eat and rest in time, use all your abilities wisely. Nothing stops you from skipping bosses to rush and move to the next dungeon, but you’ll also meet true death if you don’t take time to level up your character and abilities.”
As for features, here are some of the said launch features for “Paper Dungeons Crawler”:
Features:
– 4 Biomes (with caves and dungeons)
– 60 creature types
– 120 unique items
– 5 classes
– 6 talents (natural gifts that help your specializations level faster): Champion, Heavy, Hunter, Ninja, Runic, Merchant.
– 9 specializations to level up: One-handed weapons, Two-handed weapons, Ranged weapons, Thrown weapons, Rune type 1, 2, 3, 4, Appraisal.
– 5 Bosses
– 25 randomized dungeon floors to beat
As good as that might sound though, there’s a catch to all of this, and that would be the fact that “Paper Dungeons Crawler” needs to collect 2,000 USD via Kickstarter in-order to become a reality. Well, the game has managed to collection 119 USD so far, and there’s about 17 days left to go on the Kickstarter watch. So there is still quite a lot of time left for “Paper Dungeons Crawler” to become successfully funded.
Other than that, Agent Mega informed us that there is a playable demo available for “Paper Dungeons Crawler”. So if you like what you’ve seen so far from the game, then you could download and play the Windows demo today. As for here and now though, you can find the latest video for “Paper Dungeons Crawler” down below.
