Not so long ago I had the chance to sit down with Steam Crate´s director Ryan  So I asked him some questions about Steam Crate´s plans for the future and much more. And with that said, please enjoy my interview 😉

Robin TGG
Could you give us an introduction of what Stream Crate is all about? As I´m quite sure that people would like to know more about your products and services.

Ryan Steamcrate
Steamcrate basically offers 10 randomly selected steam games for a fraction of the retail price. You could get 10 Top Triple A titles, Or some crazy game about a goat, It truly is random every month. We guarantee that each crate is worth a Minimum of £30 as well, So you’ll always get incredible value, as it starts from just £13.99/Crate!

Well, at least if you´re into PC games and PC Gaming that is.

Robin TGG
How, why, when and where did you come up with the idea for Steam Crate?

Ryan Steamcrate
Steamcrate was created to fill a huge gap in the market, we’ve all seen these physical subscription boxes that offer a few random gaming related items etc per month, but we thought sending out a surprise crate of actual games every month is a much better idea – And it won’t take up a million and one shelves with junk you may not want, its all stored in your steam library, offering countless hours of fun!

Robin TGG
How has the Gaming community reacted to Steam Crate so far? And has the feedback been positive, negative or mixed?

Ryan Steamcrate
So far we’ve had nothing but positive feedback! We’re still getting our name out there, and we’re growing every single month.

There is about +9,400 games on Steam right now. And most of them are also available via Steam Crate.

Robin TGG
How big are Steam Crate´s game library exactly? What games are available? And can people from all around the world enjoy your service?

Ryan Steamcrate
Literally, if its on steam, we’ve most likely got it in our huge database of game keys. We make sure all games work worldwide without restriction.

Robin TGG
What´s your take on E3 2016 in terms of PC games? And which PC-titles are you looking forward to the most?

Ryan Steamcrate
There are so many great games coming out, we couldn’t possibly pick one. It looks like its going to be another great year for gaming!

Robin TGG
Virtual reality games have started to take off now, so do you think that it´s something that´s going to become a big thing on Steam?

Ryan Steamcrate
VR is the future of gaming. We’ve tried out a few headsets and it really brings a whole new dimension to gaming – Its just so immersive, and really is a completely different experience everytime. As VR is built for PC, We think there will be a TON of great games released on steam and other platforms, hopefully converting a lot of console players to PC!

steam controller

Will Steam Crate start to sell physical items such as the Steam controler in the future? Time will tell.

Robin TGG
Does Steam Crate have any plans for selling any physical Steam related products in the future? (like the controller, for example).

Ryan Steamcrate
No plans of yet. We think keeping things virtual is the best way to go!

Robin TGG
What kind of services do you offer? And what do you charge for each service?

Ryan Steamcrate
We only offer the one at the moment, 10 Random Games per Month. We offer discounts if you take out multiple months at once, e.g the Annual plan works out at only £13.99/Month!

Steam Crate has had a really good year so far, and the same could be said about Steam as a whole as well.

Robin TGG
How has 2016 been for you guys so far? (in terms of sales, reviews and so on).

Ryan Steamcrate
Fantastic! We’re growing every single month, and we had a ton of happy susbcribers from the get go. We are still getting our name out there and forging partnerships left right and center. Busy year!

Robin TGG
How many Steam crates have you delivered so far this year?

Ryan Steamcrate
Too many to count! Literally thousands upon thousands. Think of it, 1000 Subscribers equals 10,000 Games we have to source, sort and deliver -Its quite a task every month!

Robin TGG
Can we expect to see any new kind of service from you guys in the future? (maybe some real Steam crates?).

Ryan Steamcrate
We are actually planning on launching different style crates, such a random horror crate and under 18’s crate – So there will be something for everyone. We don’t plan on creating anything physical at this time though!

Battlefield 1

2016 will offer quite a few impressive PC-titles (like DICE “Battlefield 1”, for example).

Robin TGG
Does Steam Crate have any plans for 2016? And will you be visiting any Gaming events this year? If so, which events will you visit?

Ryan Steamcrate
Keep on spreading the word about steam crate, expand on our services and generally stream line everything. We’re heavily focused on growing our online presence, so unfortunately we probably won’t be attending any events this year!

***Disclosure***
We (TGG) are a part of the Steam Crate family (we weren’t a part of Steam Crate when this interview was originally done), and we may receive a profit cut out of your purchase via the Steam Crate links in this post.
