There are quite a few developers out there that wants to take a big bite out of the “Pokémon GO” market, and who can blame them really? Because the Pokémon GO market said to be worth billions of Dollars, and as you might remember. Not so long ago I wrote about the upcoming F2P mobile game called “Maguss” (which basically is a Harry Potter GO game). Well, now it´s time for another hungry contender to Pokémon Go to step forward. You see, earlier today I (Robin Ek) was contacted by Ambidexter (it´s a Russian indie development game studio), and they informed me that they are working on a mobile Mmorpg called “UnderVerse” (for iOS and Android):
“Hey! My name is Alex. I’m a lead developer of a MMORPG with AR and GPS routing — UnderVerse. Do you think you could cover UnderVerse?
UnderVerse VS PokemonGO:
– Extended gameplay, PVP, PVE, portals, castles, 3 kinds of arenas, quests and crafting
– 3 times more detailed models
– 3 attack and defense points and multiple special abilities
– Multiple quests and storylines
– Unique armory and skills
– Integrated chat, clans, auction house, quests and events.
– Full GPS routing with extra game markers along the route
– Ability to experience many of the game ‘s features without the need to physically walk around” – Ambidexter
So, what about the actually story of “UnderVerse” then? Well, the story of the game goes something like this:
“Amidst the endless diversity of parallel realities there was an anomaly. A cancer. A universe in which the laws of physics fractured and reality bent, and it began to expand at an incalculable rate. It crashed into the barrier between worlds and destroyed it, causing an explosion that resounded across existence itself.
The number of universes destroyed by the shockwave is impossible to determine. But in destruction, there was creation; a tunnel was ripped open, allowing unlimited passage through space and time. Those brave, curious or desperate enough to leave their home world gained a power they could never have foreseen. They looked upon the fabric of reality and could never quite look away; they became able to see the inhabitants of other universes, to observe ripples and tears in the barrier. And what can be seen, can be fought.
They became the first warriors against the hostile unknown, fighting the marauding denizens of unforgiving worlds. For every peaceful settler there is an army of invaders, looking to cannibalize other universes for resources, riches or the simple thrill of violence, and an undefended world is a dead world. Native or otherwise, you have adopted Earth as your home and sworn to defend it against those who would see it dead. You follow in footsteps worn down over a thousand years of fighting, but only you can decide the path you’ll forge ahead.
The fate of Earth rests in your hands. Who will you be? What decisions will you make?”
So I think it´s safe to say that Ambidexter has a lot of ambitions and plans for “UnderVerse”, and I think that the alpha gameplay video looked pretty promising. However, there is quite a lot of polishing and fine tuning left to be done with no doubt. Nevertheless, the game still has a lot of good possibilities. So I truly hope that the final version of “UnderVerse” will offer its players a really awesome gameplay experience. Well, we will know for sure once the game releases for Android and iOS devices in the near future.
