Well ain´t that nice. Two brand new trailers for two of the worlds most famous movie franchises on the very same day (on Black Friday of all days). Yes, i´m of course talking about Star Wars: Episode 7 and “Jurassic World“.
But i´m going to focus on Jurassic World, because Chen coverd Star Wars: EP 7 yesterday.
So here´s my thoughts on Jurassic World. For starter, the movie is directed by Colin Trevorrow. And to be honest, i had no idea who that was. And when i looked Trevorrow up, i find just ONE “big” movie on his resumé.
A movie which i have never heard of before. And it´s called “Safety Not Guaranteed“.
And i´m somewhat curious why he was chosen as the director for Jurassic World? Sure, Steven Spielberg is the executive producer of the movie. But he was the executive producer for Jurassic Park III as well. And we all know how that movie turned out in the end.
Then we got the casting list for Jurassic World. There´s not that many impressive names on that list. But here´s some of the actors that i really like:
Chris Pratt (Guardians of the Galaxy, Her, Moneyball ) as Owen
BD Wong (Jurassic Park, OZ tv-series, Mulan) as Henry Wu
Brian Tee (The Wolverine, We were soldiers, The fast and the furious: Tokyo Drift) as Hamada
As for the Jurassic World background story. The movie takes place 22 years after the events of Jurassic Park (1993).
So Isla Nublar (a big island 120 miles west of Costa Rica) now features a dinosaur theme park, yes, you guessed it. Jurassic World.
A park which is based on John Hammond´s (played by Richard Attenborough. Whom sadly enough passed away this year) visions and dreams.
But if you have watched any of the previous Jurassic Park movies. Then you know more than well what happened in each and every one of those movies.
And Jurassic World will of course be no exception. The trailer gave me (us) that impression after like, 5 seconds or so. So i don´t know, i just get this “been there, done that“ feeling from Jurassic World.
Because it doesn´t seem like Jurassic World will bring anything new to the table (so to speak). Same concept, just a new title for the movie. So i can´t say that i´m super excited or hyped up about Jurassic World, at least not yet.
But what do you guys think of the movie so far?
