It seems like more and more cult classic movies is getting a sequel or a remake (Blade Runner, Poltergeist, The Crow, Space Jam) at the moment. Even so, I was kind of surprised to hear that Tim Burton´s comedy/horror movie “Beetlejuice,” will be getting a sequel in the near future. This was confirmed by the female actor Winona Ryder (who starred in the original movie from 1988 as the goth girl Lydia Deetz), as she told Late Night´s host Seth Meyers about Tim Burton´s plans for a new Beetlejuice movie (Ryder did during the Monday Late-Night show). And yes, Michael Keaton will be in the movie (his of course cast for the role as Beetlejuice once again).
Anyhow, this is what Winona Ryder told Seth Meyers during her Late Night visit:
“Um, I think I can confirm it, because Tim Burton did this interview — like, it was very hush hush, top secret … and then he was doing some press for Big Eyes and he did an on-camera interview and he said, ‘Oh yeah we’re doing it and Winona’s going to be in it,’ and I was like [shocked face].” – Winona Ryder
That´s great news for everyone who’s a fan of the original Beetlejuice movie with no doubt. However, it´s somewhat unclear if Alec Baldwin (Adam Maitland) and Geena Davis (Barbara Maitland) is to be a part of the Beetlejuice sequel. As Winona Ryder is the only confirmed actor in the follow-up movie to Beetlejuice so far. Nevertheless, I´m more than thrilled and excited over the thought of a new Beetlejuice movie. As I´ve been a hardcore fan ever since the early 90s.
So, what´s your thoughts on this people? And are you just as excited as I am?
