We are now just three days away from Metroid´s 30th anniversary celebration party. And even though it´s yet unknown if Nintendo will throw a party for the world’s most famous Galactic bounty hunter (Samus Aran) or not, we can all count on one thing for sure. And that would be the fact that the “Metroid” community will try their very best to turn Metroid´s 30th anniversary into a very special and memorable occasion (the original “Metroid” game turns 30 years old this Saturday).
And speaking of celebrations, DoctorM64 will launch his remake PC-remake of “Metroid 2” on the 6th of August (yes, on the same day as Metroid´s 30th anniversary kicks-off). So if you´re a fan of the “Metroid” series, then you got a lot awesome stuff to look forward to (if you can´t wait for the full version of “Metroid 2 remake” to drop, then you can download the AM2R v1.41 demo today).
And I´m quite sure that there will be a handful of awesome “Metroid´s 30th anniversary” Youtube videos and streams for us to enjoy over the weekend as well. So, how will you celebrate Metroid´s 30th anniversary? Me, I´m going to try the AM2R game and write up an article about my memories of the game.
About Project AM2R:
Metroids. The most dangerous species in the galaxy.
One of the most important moments of the Metroid storyline happened in SR388, after a titanic battle between Samus and the mighty Queen Metroid. Memories of that event start to fade… it was long ago.
Now you can experience Metroid 2: Return of Samus again. With improved graphics, gameplay, and new areas. Join Samus in her most dangerous adventure within the depths of planet SR388, all the Metroid evolutions are waiting for you…
Project AM2R aims to recreate Metroid 2 with updated graphics and gameplay. Taking elements from newer Metroid titles: the fast paced gameplay of Metroid: Zero Mission, the atmosphere and solitude of Super Metroid, and adding new game mechanics, AM2R is one of the most ambitious Metroid fan games.
Features:
– Metroid Zero Mission style gameplay
– Map system
– Updated enemy AI
– Minibosses
– New areas
– Challenging Metroid fights
– Stackable beam system
– Completely redrawn enemy and Metroid sprites
– Log system with non-intrusive narrative
– High quality soundtrack
– You can play a DEMO of the first area of the game right now!
