You know. This came as no surprise to me really. As it was simply bound to happen. I mean, it was just a matter of time before the shit would hit the fan. Yes, I am of course talking about the butt “controversy” surrounding NieR: Automata’s protagonist, YoRHA No. 2B. You see, “some” people would get upset and angry over 2B´s sexy looks and Nier: Automata´s sexual theme in general (just like I predicted that they would not so long ago). Nevertheless, I was still quite surprised to see the response that Taro Yoko (Director, Nier: Automata) gave on the matter of the “2B butt controversy”:

“Due to the 2B butt controversy, many outrageous drawings are being made. Collecting them to share individually is a pain. It would be great if we can group them together to make it easier to distribute them every week.” – Taro Yoko

In other words, Mr. Taro Yoko is just making fun out of the whole “2B butt controversy” by stating that he wishes that someone could collect all the lewd drawings (and whatnot) of 2B and upload them on the Internet on a weekly basis. So one could say that Taro simply laughed at those who are “offended” and “triggered” by 2B´s butt. On a personal level, I find 2B to be even sexier than Bayonetta (that in its own deserves some kind of a game award). Furthermore, 2B is on hell of a kick-ass game character, and by the looks of it. “Nier: Automata” is already looking like a GOTY title. So I can see why Yoko doesn´t care all that much about what some offended people in the West thinks about 2B and “Automata”.

Fans of “Nier: Automata” did actually send Taro Yoko a big collection of lewd 2B content.

I would also like to point out that this whole “situation” really proves that there is a huge difference between developers in the West and in the East, because in Japan 2B´s butt is no big deal (or any content of that matter). However, in the West stuff like that causes angry headlines, furious rants, tons of controversy and even requests of censorship (the SJW movement loves to ruin the fun for everyone...). That´s also why I´m somewhat worried that “Nier: Automata” might end up being censored in the West. I hope that I´m wrong though, as that´s the last thing that I would like to see happen to Automata (in my opinion, game developers should be able to create whatever they want, without risking any level of censorship).

So I truly hope that “Nier: Automata” will be 100% uncensored once the game drops for the PS4 in March this year (March 7th in NA, and March 10th in EU). One thing is for sure though, even “if” Automata ends up being censored in one way another. Then we could always rely on the mod community to sort out the censorship nonsense once the PC-version launches later year (as you might remember, the PC mod community did wonders to “Street Fighter V”). Well, time will tell. Nevertheless, I wish Taro Yoko and PlatinumGames the best of luck with “Nier: Automata”! Speaking of which, should we try to throw a giveaway for the game? I might even try to get an interview with Taro Yoko while I´m at it? 😉
