I have said it many times before in the past, but I´m going to say it yet again. Kickstarter is one hell of a gamble for indie developers. As there are NO guaranties whatsoever, that your project will be successfully funded on Kickstarter. That´s quite obvious though, as no one could leave any guaranties of that kind (no matter if it´s Kickstarter or Indiegogo). Simply because it would be the same thing as I would ask a local store for guaranties that my lotto ticket will win the big price this weekend. Well, you get my point. Sadly enough there is more to it than “just” that, because it´s not the first time that I’ve seen a perfectly fine game fail on Kickstarter. For example, take Permadeath´s beautiful 2D rpg sandbox game “Planet Centauri” (for Windows, MAC, Linux, Xbox One, PS4 and PSV). Because even though “Planet Centauri” (which looks like a mix of Terraria and Metal Slug in my opinion) is a really great game (yes, I have played the demo).

That was not enough to secure funding for “Planet Centauri.” As the Kickstarter goal was set to 27,000 Euro, and “Planet Centauri” managed to collect about 4,300 Euro before the Kickstarter campaign ended. So one might ask him/herself what Permadeath will do now? As “Planet Centauri” failed to reach it´s Kickstarter goal on time. Maybe Permadeath should consider doing a Kickstarter reboot? Nevertheless, it´s rather sad that it had to end like this for Permadeath and “Planet Centauri” on Kickstarter…
