I am not even joking when I’m saying that it’s been years since the last time I heard anything from Sebastian de Andrade (the maker of “SturmFront: The Mutant War” and “1917: The Alien Invasion“), because it’s been over a year since I wrote about Andrade’s fast-paced bullet hell WW1 shmup”1917: The Alien Invasion“. Well, that’s just about to change, because Andrade just informed me that his going to release “SturmFront – The Mutant War: Übel Edition” to PC via Steam in August:
“Hallo Thegg,
Did you know my game “SturmFront – The Mutant War” from 2015? You remember? Currently I am creating an “Übel Edition” with doubled content, more assets and more blood. Release is August 11th 2017. SturmFront – The Mutant War: Übel Edition is a remake of Andrade Games’ debut game that aims to enhance every feature imaginable: Doubled content, enhanced gameplay, more graphics and more blood! This is the ultimate version of SturmFront and a love letter to the arcade genre!” – Sebastian de Andrade

“SturmFront – The Mutant War: Übel Edition” is a full-blown remake of Andrade Games’ debut game from 2015.
That’s great news for those who love old-school-like arcade shooters with no doubt (think “Commando”, “Mercs”, “Ikari Warriors” “Shock Troopers”), but wait! There is more, because Andrade also told me the following as well:
“The German Crust Metal band Hellknife releases a new music video in cooperation with the German indie game developer Sebastian de Andrade. Both are living in the area around Mannheim and both are into uncompromising art. While Hellknife is playing hardcore Heavy Metal, the game studio Andrade Games is producing classic shooting games in the style of the 90s arcade machines.” – Sebastian de Andrade
Indie developer Sebastian de Andrade tells:
“I saw Hellknife at the Rhein Neckar Metal Festival X and was instantly enthusiastic about that we are speaking the same artistic language. Their newest cover artwork shows the Mannheim water tower, skulls and a heavy tank, and I immediately realized that we had to carry out a joint project, because one level of my current game “SturmFront – The Mutant War: Übel Edition” takes place in Mannheim.”
“SturmFront The Mutant War: Übel Edition” is the 2nd game by developer studio Andrade Games, set to release on August 11th. It is a sequel to the 2016 shoot ’em up game “1917 – The Alien Invasion DX”, which is also available on Steam.
In addition Hellknife singer Ralf Keitel:
“Arcade action games and Crust / D Beat music match perfectly through the energy and hardness of the two art forms. When Sebastian asked us if we would make our music available for his new game, we were like fire and flame. Our expectations have been surpassed: it is a perfect symbiosis of handmade music and handmade graphics.”
Hellknife is active since 2015 and publish their music on Bandcamp.de. Their newest album is even available as vinyl: https://hellknife.bandcamp.com/
Regarding Heavy Metal, Sebastian de Andrade said:
“I love Heavy Metal and classic action games, but since I do not have the talent to play a guitar, I am developing my very personal kind of Heavy Metal as a programmer and comic artist.” Hellknife will perform on Sunday the 6th of August with the Grindcore giants “Napalm Death” in Weinheim.
In other words, Metalheads got a lot to celebrate as well =) And you can watch the said music video by Hellknife down below! And with that said, what’s your take on “The Mutant War: Übel Edition” so far? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
