You know, since it’s been a couple of months since I heard anything at all about the upcoming 2D RPG “Towards The Pantheon” (the last time I wrote about the game was in December of 2017). I decided that it might be a good idea to do a check up on the development front of “Towards The Pantheon” (the game is said to launch soon for Windows). Well, before I even had time to do that, Connor O.R.T. Linning (the developer of the game) informed us that there is now Steam page and a brand-new trailer for “Towards The Pantheon” (you can watch the new trailer further down the page).
I also noticed that some brand-new pictures have been released for “Towards The Pantheon”. So I took the liberty to add some of those new pictures to this post =)
“Towards The Pantheon is a 2D top down role-playing game by lead developer Connor O.R.T. Linning and pixel artist Leandro Tokarevski that follows four unlikely heroes as they venture through dangerous worlds and suffer great hardships in order to defeat the source of The Sworn Light at The Pantheon. Gone are the RPG clichés of potions, wars between elemental gods, and plots about youngsters who accidentally stumble upon a magic power that allows them to save the world. Instead Towards The Pantheon is a unique and unusual game starring Freyja the warrior, Bam the cat, Mishima the electropunk, and Phenez the ghost on their simultaneously lighthearted, fun, dark, and painful journey.
Towards The Pantheon will have you speeding through dark caves in minecarts, shopping with Famallamas, riding Speedsters, hacking computers, listening in on conversations around the campfire, and much more! While drawing inspiration from a variety of classics from the RPG, Adventure, and Survival Horror genres, Towards The Pantheon is an ambitious game that is unafraid of breaking conventions in order to offer a unique and refreshing experience.
Last October the prequel game Towards The Pantheon: Escaping Eternity released for free on Steam, Itch.io, and Gamejolt achieving an 88% average score on Steam and download numbers far beyond expectations.” – Connor O.R.T. Linning

I have to say that “Towards The Pantheon” displays some really beautiful and impressive pixel graphics and animations.
Other than that, It seems like Connor has nailed down most of the said key launch features for “Towards The Pantheon”:
Features:
– Ability to switch between the four main characters, each with unique overworld mechanics.
– An eclectic original soundtrack consisting of over 80 tracks.
– A huge fully connected overworld with an interconnected transportation system.
– Turn based combat system where each character has unique battle mechanics.
– A Card/Combo system that allows collectible cards and combos found throughout the world to be used during battle.
– More than 10 regions to explore including lush forests, freezing planes of snow, cyberpunk cities, barren wastelands, and an abandoned mansion.
– Dialog and support systems that allow for further character development and stat boosts.
– A unique and complex overarching story line that ties together more than 5 races spread over 10 regions, each contributing to a deep and rich lore.

I don’t know if it’s just me, but this picture made me think about “Phantasy Star IV” for the Mega Drive.
So “hopefully” that really means that “Towards The Pantheon” will launch soon (that’s at least what the game’s Steam page states). Well, time will tell I guess. As for here and now though, you will find the brand-new trailer for “Towards The Pantheon” down below!
