I bet that I’m not the only person out there that has wished for a darker, evil and more ghoulish RPG game to be made. Well, our payers seem to have been heard. You see, Yozamu just happens to work on a 2D RPG that’s themed around sins and virtues, and the game is called “Unleashed” (“Unleashed” is in development for Windows, and the game is said to launch sometime during the third quarter of this year).

unleashed awesome artwork

Just the artwork alone caught my attention while I was watching the trailer for “Unleashed”.

Anyways, I think you get the idea. So here’s what  Florent Goumot-Labesse (Florent is the project lead of “Unleashed”) told us per e-mail:

“Hi, At Lonely Child Studio, we are working on a game for Windows called Unleashed. Unleashed is a 2D Role Playing Game (RPG) themed around sins and virtues and while we have gained most of our inspiration from games like Pokémon and Final Fantasy, Unleashed has a darker universe and mature undertones. While we’ve added a lot of sandbox features (harvesting, crafting, housing), our main focus was thinking about strategic possibilities during fights, and ensuring open world’s richness during exploration.”Florent Goumot-Labesse Unleashed project lead

unleashed monster madness

There are plenty of different creatures and monsters whom you can summon and use during battles.

Well, I don’t know about you, but I really like the sound of that. Furthermore, I got rather impressed by the trailer for “Unleashed” (you can watch the said trailer further down the page). That’s also why I’ve decided to give Unleashed’s tech demo a try (Florent asked me if would like to give “Unleashed” a try, so I said yes). Other than that, these are the said launch features for “Unleashed” (the game is coming to PC for Windows systems sometime during Q3 this year):

Features:

Use your soul’s parts to summon up to 10 creatures called Achivaras; each one either represents a sin or a virtue!
– Semi turn-based battles: summon up to 3 Achivaras at a time in strategic 3v3 battles
– Open world: explore the open world without any limitation, even at the beginning of the game
– Farming: every map has randomly spawning resources, and almost every item can be cut down, mined, or grabbed
– Crafting: use collected and bought materials to craft other items, which can be used or sold
– Housing: repair houses in any of the 10 cities to make it your own! You’ll be able to customize your home and place useful items in it
– Unique theme: replace traditional types (fire, ice, wind…) by sins and virtues

unleashed monsters vs monsters

“Unleashed” is said to have taken inspiration from game series such as “Pokémon” and “Final Fantasy”, but I guess that one could also toss in “Call Of Cthulhu” and “Shining Force” into the mix as well.

In other words, if you like what you’ve seen and heard of “Unleashed” so far, then you might want to keep your eyes open for the game =) Because it’s heading to Windows during Q3 of this year (it’s yet to be seen if “Unleashed” will launch on other formats in the future). So, with that said, what do you guys and girls think about “Unleashed”? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below”
