Devin Faraci, Editor-in-Chief of blog movie review site Birth.Movies.Death has resigned from his position after allegations of sexual assault were made against him.
I want to be perfectly clear about one thing; I firmly believe in the concept of innocent until proven guilty. In saying that, Faraci first reacted to the allegations by begging for forgiveness without offering any type of apology. He seems willing to accept that he is capable of sexually assaulting a woman and forgetting that it ever occurred. This is damning to the so-called ‘social justice’ movement and press who has held Faraci up as a male feminist ally. The reactions, or more accurately the silence from the usual outlets speaks to the hypocrisy of the press and is further confirmation of agenda driven collusion within media that GamerGate has fought against the last 2 years.

True, so one might wonder how many skeletons the rest of the SJW movement is hiding in their closet?
For the sake of full disclosure, and in the spirit of Ken Bone’s openness, if I want journalists like Devin Faraci to be accountable for their words and actions, I should be accountable for my own. I’m one autistic spectrum, socially awkward mother ******. I’ve never grabbed a woman by the pussy without consent. However, around a decade ago I used to slap people’s asses when I was out clubbing. I apologize unreservedly for this. At the time, I considered it light-hearted fun. That was a mistake. As it´s the kind of behavior that oversteps personal boundaries. And while my own butt has been slapped or grabbed on multiple occasions by strangers without my consent, none of that excuses my own actions. I realized it was wrong and put a stop to it. I didn’t adopt an ideology of shaming and bullying people for their perfectly innocent opinions, which is what Devin Faraci did as a high-profile blogger.
If true, the allegations against Faraci would make him a hypocrite on levels that match that of homophobic senators and priests. This is the same Devin Faraci who once dedicated an entire article to attacking James Rolfe (The Angry Video Game Nerd), labelling him a sexist and describing his attitude as dangerous, simply because Rolfe expressed that he did not want to watch Ghostbusters 2016.
“And that’s why his attitude is maybe the most dangerous. It speaks to the way sexism (and racism and plenty of other isms) kind of lives quietly inside of us” – Actual quote from Faraci.
Full of self-righteous moral authority, Faraci projects his guilt onto others with paper-thin accusations. Faraci was unable to quote anything from Rolfe that he found to be sexist. I described Faraci’s line of reasoning in a previous article;
“I remember a Tracie Harris video with an incredibly apt metaphor for Faraci’s fallacy. It’s as though Faraci has an empty jar, and is telling us the jar is full of sexism, but he cannot describe how it manifests in a way we can see or hear or measure in any way. The sexism is an innate, unseen, unsaid trait of the empty jar, that’s his argument. Following this metaphor, what Faraci describes as sexism is the same as describing nothing. He’s inventing sexism from nothing.”
Father Faraci is describing a form of original sin (“sexism that lives quietly inside us”), and believes he can save us by proclaiming the correct opinions we should have about movies. His arguments against Rolfe were cited positively across multiple media outlets including Kotaku, Uproxx, and The Daily Beast. While happy to attack an innocent gamer for his opinions on Ghostbusters, not one of these outlets has covered the serious allegations against Faraci.
In his resignation statement, Faraci stated “I will use the coming weeks and months to work on becoming a better person who is, I hope, worthy of the trust and loyalty of my friends and readers”. Can we be so quick to trust someone who encouraged a screenwriter to commit suicide, and promised to financially look after his wife?
Can we trust a columnist who trivializes the horrors of ISIS over petty disagreements with GamerGate? Unbelievably, one article was willing to forgive sexual assault because the author sees value in Faraci’s various witch hunts.
“Maybe it doesn’t matter to you, but it certainly matters to me. It’s Faraci’s advocacy for women online, specifically women at the center of the gamergate controversy, the Ghostbusters controversy and the need for more representative depictions of women in film. Why it matters is that there is no one in fanboy film culture to take his place, to take on that fight because it’s too hard. So perhaps there is some kind of justice on one end, but it comes with a price.”
We can say with certainty that Faraci targeted an innocent person in James Rolfe (aka AVGN). His accusers can’t point to anything Rolfe said in their condemnation of him. Ghotbusters 2016 looked like a terrible film and it turned out to be a box office failure. And in regards to GamerGate, the women of GamerGate have always been an important part of the consumer revolt. Faraci isn’t doing his work on behalf of women. Faraci is indistinguishable from an online troll that just enjoys bullying. He also belongs to a very particular circle of people who make their living vilifying the medium of video games and creating moral panic in the name of social justice.
Father McIntosh: ‘Wondering why I haven’t heard any critiques of #Pokémon that mention its similarities to the blood sport of dog fighting.’ McIntosh is an outspoken male feminist, often berating people over violence or sexuality in games, yet he hasn’t said a word about the allegations against Faraci.
Father Chipman: “There are not 2 sides with equal different ideas. There is forward vs backward. Forward to superiority, backward to inferiority.“
There are many examples of Chipman’s regressive beliefs on the limits of free speech and expression, including a call for an EA developer to be fired over a difference in opinion. Bob, who worked previously on BMD when it was known as Badass Digest, had heard about separate accusations of abuse against Faraci and did not speak up.
This collection of regressive authoritarians are near-identical to religious conservative authoritarians. From concerned Christians that thought Dungeons & Dragons would lead to Satanism, to evangelists who falsely link real life violence to video games. And anyone who doesn’t fall in line with their beliefs is quickly labelled as bigoted, and placed onto a block list with thousands of others. They’ve simply left no room for nuance. Many women enjoy the ‘problematic’ content of games. Video games don’t turn people into sexists. Not wanting to see Ghostbusters 2016 doesn’t make you sexist.
It’s strange how many of GamerGate’s accusers end up accused of transgressions against women themselves. Journalist Matt Hickey, who once said “women are turned off by the prevalent sexism” in video games, has been charged with rape. The Twitter endorsed ‘anti-harassment’ group Crash Override Network has members like Robert Marmolejo who is accused of sexually harassing women, Sarah Nyberg who is a self-confessed paedophile that shared pictures online of her underage cousin, Izzy Galvez and others tried to dox a Japanese woman that supports GamerGate.

The anti-GamerGate author Sunil Patel got dropped by publishers following abuse allegations (yet another anti-GG SJW bites the dust).
Oliver Campbell describes his Sexual Abuser Feminist Beta Male Hypothesis;
“…the Sexual Abuser Beta Male comes from the idea that these men ARE the very thing that they accuse others of, because the only (or core) social group that they belong to IS that very thing. In failing to be able to get information that connects this belief (accessibility)(, they as individuals are left to believe that this is how the world is, as their social group has dicated as such.”
This is a who’s who of people who have opposed GamerGate, jumping on people for far, far less than what they themselves are guilty of. The Church of Socjus has no moral authority. We’ve been waiting for much of the press to catch up to this fact for the last 2 years.
